ABOUT THE AUTHOR



Dale Knutsen is a retired U.S. Navy aerospace engineer who was deeply involved in the development and analysis of strike weapons for more than three decades. Most of that period was spent at the Navy's research & development center in the high desert at China Lake, California. Over the course of his professional career he worked in engineering, test, analysis and management positions. He is perhaps best known for this contributions to the Walleye, Harpoon and JSOW programs.

Since his retirement from federal service, Dale has engaged in occasional freelance writing, mostly producing limited quantity editions on topics of interest to his local area. He has also been a volunteer supporting U.S. Geological Survey map dates, regional fire safety and emergency preparedness efforts, and map and navigation training for rural search & rescue teams. He and his wife live in the forests of northeastern California.
